Michael K. S. Teoh

Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln's Inn)

Mr Teoh, a Malaysian citizen was a teacher before he went to read law at the University College of Buckingham, England in 1980. He graduated in 1982 with a degree in the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with Honours. He sat for the Bar Finals at Lincoln's Inn in 1983 and was called to the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn as Barrister-at-Law in the same year.

Immediately upon being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya at Johor Bahru in September 1984, he commenced practice as a partner in Messrs. Han & Teoh which firm became known later as Messrs. Lim Han & Teoh. In 1998, Mr Teoh decided to end the partnership of Lim Han & Teoh to commence practice under the name and style of Michael Teoh, Balan & Ida Zura.

He was appointed a director of a public listed company (Tomypak Holdings Berhad) on 10th March 1996, a Commissioner for Oaths in November 1996 and a member of the Investigating Tribunal (Advocates & Solicitors' Disciplinary Board) on 18th November 2002.

Ida Zura Binti Asri

LL.B. (Hons) UiTM

Puan Ida Zura read law in the University of Technology Mara (UiTM) from 1998 to 2001. She completed her degree course and obtained an LL.B (Hons) degree in October 2001. She chambered in M/s Michael Teoh & Balan (as we were then known) from February 2002. During her chambering period, she gained extensive experience in litigation work including matters relating to insurance claim and banking.

She was admitted to the Bar and was enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya at Johor Bahru on 30 November 2002.

She joined Messrs. Michael Teoh & Balan on 1^st January 2003. She is now a partner in Messrs Michael Teoh, Balan & Ida Zura effective from 31 August 2004 handling both litigation matters with Mr Balan, bank documentation and conveyancing matters with Mr Michael Teoh.

Balan a/l Nallamuthu

LL.B. (Hons) Wolverhampton

Mr Balan is a Malaysian citizen and he was a Trainee Field Supervisor with the Oil Palm Plantation from 1970 to 1971 and a Temporary Teacher from 1972 to September 1973 before joining the Judicial Department as a Court Interpreter in October 1973 in Kuala Lumpur. Since then he has served the Magistrate's, Sessions and High Court in various parts of the country and gained considerable knowledge and experience in legal matter. He retired optionally from the legal service in January 1996 after completing 22 years of service. While in the Judicial Department he also served in the capacity as a Commissioner for Oaths from 1976 to 1995.

In recognition of his excellent service in the Judicial Department he was awarded the Pingat Ibrahim Sultan (2^nd Class) by His Royal Highness The Sultan of Johor in 1980. He was elected as the National President of the Interpreters and Translators Union, Ministry of Justice for two (2) terms from 1986 to 1990.He was also appointed as the Disciplinary Board Chairman and a member of the Rule Drafting and Competition Committee for the Johor Bahru district Football Association (JBFA) for the year 1978.

He graduated from the University of Wolverhampton in July 1992 with a degree in the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with Honours obtained by the Distance Learning Programme. He completed the Certificate of Legal Practice course conducted by the University of Malaya in 1994 and was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya at Johor Bahru on 29^th November 1996.
